The Co-cathedral of the SS. Salvatore in Montalcino
The Landscape
As soon as you walk out of the co-cathedral, your gaze opens up as far as the eye can see across the beautiful rolling hills of the Orcia Valley, declared a World Heritage Site by Unesco in 2004.
In this Brunello territory – formerly dominated by Moscatello, Vernaccia and Trebbiano – the sequence of country churches, vineyards, abbeys and villas enchants and seduces all who see it. This magnificent landscape, as is well known, originated in embryonic form in the early Middle Ages, when the numerous monastic communities who settled in this area promoted the development of agriculture.
